For the benefit of persons with disabilities living in the Pallama area, the Pallama divisional Swa Shakthi Organization was established under the registration number PUT/PAL/006 of the Pallama Divisional Secretariat of Puttalam district. According to the statistics, the number of registered beneficiaries in this system is 163 male members 77 and female members 86 in the organization. The number of children in the age group 0 – 16 years who are members of the organization is 24 as the boys are 10 and the girls are 14. The number of youth in the age group of 17-35 years is 41 as the male members are 13 and the female members are 28. The total number of senior citizens above 35 years is 98 as the male members are 42 and the female members are 56. The purpose of this organization is to protect the rights of persons with disabilities, to establish coexistence as citizens, to ensure and implement the rights of persons with disabilities, and to use their knowledge, attitude, and skills for the common development of themselves and their group. Among the beneficiaries who are the members of Pallama divisional, Swa Shakthi Organization, 4 male members and 1 female member are engaged in private sector work and 5 male members and 7 female members are self-employed.
