Description

Caritas Mannar, known locally as Valvuthayam (“Dawn of Life”), helps needy and impoverished people in northern Sri Lanka. Caritas Valvuthayam is the social service wing of the local Catholic diocese.

Caritas’ Center for the Disabled fits children and adults with comfortable, high-quality artificial limbs and works with them to improve the limb’s function. The services and the prostheses are provided free of charge. People with congenital disabilities also receive help like splints and gait-training. The center helps all people regardless of ethnicity or religion.

The Center for the Disabled is funded in part by Catholic Relief Services and UNICEF. It receives technical support from the Motivation Charitable Trust.
